Not their best colour
though one I've always wanted as it was a lightweight
first year with the fastback (still prefer the wishbone), true temper chainstay, superlight prestige front triangle and prestige seatstay.
1770g (3.9lb) quoted for 18.5" frame
XTR M900, syncros, raceface.., let down by a none original clamp and a modern rear mech ;)
as you would expect on this bike
let down by being a tidgy bike

note forks in cat are a year earlier than the model year.

I already have a picture of this particular example in my collection, funnily enough. I can't remember now where I got it from, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't from eBay.

There was the bent one

gump had one think it was a year later though?

As a side they use a true temper chainstay and not a prestige one as per the rest of the frameset. I can only assume the prestige wasn't thin enough diameter to give them characteristic they wanted as their blurb says for vibration absorption (and possibly clearance etc). Since you know your tube sets what was the difference?

(or that's all they could get hold of/had overstock of and used them up and added some marketing spin :D)

I can't explain why the tube they used could give better vibration damping characteristics than the Ultimate Superlight chainstay. I don't know about the True Temper chainstay they used instead, but I doubt whether it can have been thinner than 0.6. As you say, it could have been just the shape.
