Hi,
Wondered if anyone can help I have got a rockshox mag 21 fork and waiting for a mag21 sl ti to be delivered.
I wanted to get them both seviced and wondered if there's any one here in the uk that does it?

Thanks Dave.

Depends what sort of service you want. Strip, clean and put back together with the correct oil levels in I can do them.

Replacing main oil seal can be done (cost a bit though iirc)
Replacing air seal is trickier, but I could possibly do them. Depends what's left in my stash.

O-rings I've not bothered to match up and I could at a push if sill there do bushings.

But you're SL's should be mint if they've hardly been used.

I can of course guide you through doing it yourself (there is a post with plenty of ramblings by me)

your other MAG21 they steel or Alu stanchions ?

Am not sure weather there ali or steel as I didn't know they did both!!
When I bought them they had a 1" steerer the crown was painted black.
I changed that with a 1-1/8" steerer that was silver a lot of mag21's I have seen had a sliver crown.
Did they do different models of the 21?.

But in ref to the work, the mag 21's I have hold air and air from what I can tell(not been fitted or used since I got them) and the sl's I won last week so still on there way frm the us.
But I think it would be best to see what needs doing to the ones I have now and the sl's a total going over so there spot on.

If you could pm me with suggestions as to cost etc that would be great!

Dave

1993, 1994, 1995+

Basically 3 models of MAG 21's

1993 and 1995+ used steel (silver) stanchions
1994 used gold Alu one (as your SL has, also from 1994)
round flat dials, not like the SL you have mean it's a 1993
1995+ will have similar dials to the SL you've just bought.

1995 the colour is different and the brace is the same colour.

That black crown is likely a bonty crown, I remember someone selling forks with one like it (northerndave)
No idea of prices, I guess postage will be the main part.

Still got the 1" steerer/crown ?

I wish I still did! I took it to the cycle surgery near where I live, they gave it me back but I forgot to pick it up again as I was talking/paying and had my 9 yr old son telling me to "hurry up!"
Shame it looked good with the black brace and black boots.
The dials on the top are flat and have a screw to take out the middle to put the air in(I have the old rs syringe pump)

Will have a check with a magnet for the legs but think there steel? Can't see any rust tho...

Thanks for that bit of info, will send a email to the address it says on the site, will outline what I have said on here and see what they say.
Says that cost could be anything upto $150 depending what state there in,but obviously want to see if they will be ok about shipping to the uk if not then I will pm you about sending them via your goodself.
Thanks for the link.

Dave.

Btw what's the time diff to that part of the USA?

I don't think Hippietech do them any more from what I've read. Not sure about TF Tuned, give him an email or pm on there.

Honestly the SL's should only need a clean and the oil setting up for you.
The others without seeing them I don't know, but probably not much more than that either.

They are quite reliable forks luckily, best bit about them having a large bath of oil in them. Keeps the water away.

For $150 I so a pair quite easily

Of to Dalby today, but will get back if you really do think you need them doing.
Wait for the SL's to turn up though.

I think I will deffo get these one here done because there not the best condition cosmetically on the outer legs.
If you pm me your email add then I will send some photos so you could have a quick visual?
I would rather they get done here as it's gonna take ages to send/repaired/posted back I started with my the rts1 at least 3 months ago!! Waiting for parts etc now then will build up but of course want it 'just right'

Dave, it's 11:15PM Tuesday in California right now, London is 8 hours ahead. I think Idaho is 1 hour ahead of me, so around 1215AM Wed.

Based on the auction description and pics, it sounds like your fork will be in fine working order.
