Rockhopper FS 1999 build in progress

I'm building up a Rockhopper from 1999 for my son. Its Ritchey steel, which can't be bad. A 17 inch, 55cm top tube. Hope its not too big, otherwise I will have to ride it! XT 750 waiting to be added, plus a WTB Silverado saddle, LX hubs and 221 rims. Some blue DMR Vault flat pedals, and brakes will be Magura HS33's, to finish it off.

Note the red dials at the top of the Z3's....this is a hybrid Z3 legs with Z2 internals. I am waiting on some Enduro seals. I've mixed Motul Factory oil, 7.5w and 10w, to hit the right viscosity.

I'm wondering what bar to put on it? Any suggestions? I always rated Titec kit, and bought a Titec 12cm cromo stem and Enduro HF bar, but I think the stem is too long for my son, sadly.

Big fan of these bikes. My partner has a tiny one and I've had two different ones over the past three years (and keep seeking then for some bizarre reason).

It still needs some work, but its basically finished. Cost - no idea, but more expensive than planned.

I really like the bars, I've never tried risers before, these are Titec Hellbent XC jobs. The saddle is a modern stainless Silverado, which goes with the post. I've put in a CaneCreek shim to go from 30.4 down to 27.2. Slightly annoyingly a 30.4 Syncros post has just appeared on Ebay, although its ridiculously expensive. The seatbolt is an anodised X Lite with a new titanium bolt. The brakes are phenomenally powerful, newer HS33's. I repacked the hubs with some Silkolene racing grease. The pedals are DMR Vaults and I've put the pins in so my son doesnt scratch up his shins. I bought him a pair of Leatt flat 2 shoes, which are also in blue.

The best bit is maybe the fork. I've mixed up some Motul factory oils (7.5w 70% and 10w 30%) to get closer to the target 26.4 cst. The internals to the forks are from a Z2. I think the Enduro seals are great. The legs are Z3's, but the colour is basically a match.

Still to do: swap out the chainrings for silver units as the chain was jumping on the middle chainring. Put some M Part cable guides on it. Get some new cylinder washers from Tarty Bikes for the Maguras, and maybe lengthen the Magura outer on the front as its a touch short.

If anyone wants a Orange Zest 26, I'm selling my son's old one on Ebay. I think the Marzocchi's on this are better than the Rockshox Gold on the Orange. I rebuilt the Orange's forks before putting it up for sale, and in comparison, Marzocchi's are more substantial, don't have so many stupid O rings, and have lower stiction, due to the open bath design.
