Rock Shox - Mag 30 For restoration or spares.

Dirt Disciple
Hi,

I've been directed to this site as a good place for advice / like minded people for some of the older parts that are turning up in a shed clearout...

I've a pair of Rock Shox forks that have been in the back of my shed for some time, which I'm not sure of the exact model of.

When I got them I stripped, cleaned and put fresh oil in them. They worked fine when I fitted them to a bike, but the rubber seals at the top have perished, which I believe to be reasonably common. So they lose pressure overnight, then the rubber seal falls out the top cap and you need to take them apart to get it back out...

They're in a pretty poor condition cosmetically, you can see that they've got some quite bad corrosion under the laquer and the powder coating on the brace is flaking.

However they appear to be in reasonable mechanical order, other than the seals, and move smoothly and the stanchions seem in good condition.

They have a 1 1/8" x 14cm threaded steerer.

I'd be happy to let them go for £20 to anyone who's interested in them for spares or wants to restore them, if you've a different idea of their value, I'm open to offers.

If no one is interested, I'd appreciate anyone who can give me a definite model name for them at least.

Thanks a lot!

Re:

They're Mag30's and the air seals are an arse to fix as they sit in a plastic container and a bugger to get the seal out and a new one in. I think they sold them as an all in one (?) seal for these.

The steerer/crown on the other hand is newer by 3 or so years, but just a newer version off a later mag21.
