Roberts frame identification

Gavmor

Retro Newbie
I've recently acquired this Roberts mongrel from a charity. It's a 1991 frame, I'm pretty sure it's a Genesis, and not a Spider. But I'd like a number of opinions on this. I'm pretty clueless as to what to look out for, but I've photographed some frame details. All input appreciated :)

Lucky find!
The rack mounts say Genesis, the lack of a lug on bottom bracket says White Spider.
I've got a few brochures and can upload some scans at the weekend.
Is the down tube simply round, or is it ovalised at the head tube and bottom bracket? If ovalised then more likely a Spider...
Some RC30's on that and dx/xt and it'll be lovely. Let me know if you need any parts.

Re:

I'll look at the down tube tomorrow, I'm pretty sure it's round at both ends. It has xt cantilever on the rear, deore on the fork. Xtr front Mech, and 600 rear. Bit of a mash, but I'd love a suitable rigid Fork for it. Any suggestions?

Re:

The attached says single rack eye for a standard white spider, with round down tube. Could be a White Spider.
For fork, a customised Kona P2 is listed, but I'd consider a RC30... as shown on an earlier white spider here. I have one spare..!

Re:

Oh... and the 600 rear mech could be original. It was known for Roberts to use the odd road part.

Re:

It seemed to me at first to be a frame offered up to a donor bike. It has sugino Chainset, spesh cranks, synchro Stem, and fork/front brake from an era nearer to now.
I'm mightily pleased with what I have obtained - but I'll be honest with you, I got first dibs on this, as I volunteer for this charity as a bike mechanic - and when I picked this bike up, I swear it was lighter than my old Trek 970 from the same year. My eyebrows may have moved upwards.

Re:

Have a look on the underneath of the bottom bracket for a frame number.

1991 says White Spider or a custom based around that geometry.

Re:

Frame no. 911111. I was wrong regarding the downtube, it is ovalled where it meets the headtube.

Re:

Yup, definitely 1991.

I'm no expert but I think the Genesis came along a little while after this.
