Roberts Dogs Bolx (kids version) interesting history

Are you Geoff’s son? 😊
My youngest does occasionally race on it. The frame is a lovely bit of kit.
I love the fact its being used by the next generation
Close but im the grandson, its had its fair few generations now. Very pleased to know someone’s racing the bike, I’d love to see what you’ve done with it now if it hasn’t been kept the way I remember.

Geoff send me some more photos, the white frames are a newer one he made and another photo of the kids dogs bolx. Geoff was wondering if you got the frame repaired as he said it needed it. He also works out of poole now.

When I got the bike, (last year, I think), I stripped it down and there was a large hole on the seattube. So I had to get that replaced.

I’m based in SE London so took it to Winston Vaz to do the repair and re-paint.
The pictures in the start of this thread are of the bike when i’d finished re-building it in summer 2024 and my son almost in time for my son’s 10th birthday, and took it to the Malverns Classic for him to race on. More recently, at the start of this year he did the odd cyclocross event.

It’s a lovely bit of kit and i’d have loved one at that age. I remember visiting to the Roberts showroom in Croydon in the early 90s drooling over the White Spiders and Dogs Bolx so always wanted and was fortunate to be able to buy one before Chas retired. But the opportunity to have a matching baby one was not to be missed.

I’ve got some questions…
Would I be right in thinking that you used this bike and your dad did too?
I’m assuming Geoff built it as opposed to the other staff?
What happened to the bike?

Also, do you have more pictures of the white Dogs Bolx - that looks really good

Its great to hear about the history and good to hear from you
