I noticed that. The article didn't give good credits for the photographs. Must be a different year

That bike would have been better if the seat tube had been a normal angle and his position about the BB normal, for power, but with the longer chainstays and seatstays as that is where the shock absorbtion is happening. The slack head angle was probably right though.
