Road focussed bike around an mtb frame

Pedal wise, I do use crank bros Quattro on the roadie, so I can use mtb cleats, though did buy some road shoes I should try at some point.

Not sure I'll get much more tyre in there. I think the one fitted is a 23c. Any thoughts on a 38c in there?

I could perhaps use a 27.5 wheel, but haven't seen any cx style tyres in thst size so would be trying to squeeze an mtb tyre in there.

Might just have to build it as an mtb.....

I ran 35c tyres on 700c wheels in my 26” Indy Fab frame a few times and there was loads of clearance. That has an EBB not sliding dropouts too, so I could adjust the BB height but not the chainstay length.
