Rixon No 2.

I bought this frame on the strength of my first Rixon and on closer inspection they are quite different in build style. If this is really a Rixon it displays a quite different frame number and I would expect it to be a fairly recent modern build. But It takes deep-drop dual pivot brakes and has a 120mm rear axle spacing. With bottom routed gear cables and braze-on bosses on the downtube it has modern touches too so perhaps it’s a recent build to take a classic groupset?
Anyhow, that’s all pretty academic. I thought it was about time I had a single speed bike in the collection. Not a indifferent choice given that I live in west Cornwall. Suffice to say I will be a bit cautious with my route planning for a while yet!
It’s first trip out was about six miles and on the moderate hills and headwind I managed with the 66” gear OK. The beauty of this sort of a bike is its efficiency and it did seem to roll along nicely and more freely than a geared bike would with an equivalent gear selected.
Purist would probably agree on my choice to replace the tyres with tan-wall items and I’m thinking mudguards would help make it look less lanky by closing up the wheel/frame gaps.
The brakes, RSX levers and Br-R451 are a revelation. Does anyone know if tan coloured hoods are available?
