I have 3 frames that require a bottle boss replacement. 2 I have removed the bits already, the other to do but will win the battle.

Anyone recommend a decent tool and associated boss nuts for the jobs in hand?

2 are alloy frames, one carbon if that makes a difference. Actually realised I have 4 frames to do. Oops.

I've used this one for several years now - I've set steel, stainless steel, and aluminum riv-nuts with it, easy-peasy, with no problem.

I assume you can get one on the east bank of the pond. It comes with some metric mandrels, so you should be all set.
Sort of a trick to using it - It's adjustable for reach, but sometimes you need to do a couple "pulls" to get the nut to seat.

I always used a bolt an oversize nut, a thrust washer
There are several options here , I have always used a high tensile M5 Allen screw with a Full nut and a couple of washers .

You screw the nut onto the Allen screw followed by the washers and the Rivnut . Insert this assembly into the frame ,

restrain the bolt from turning with an Allen key while unscrewing the nut . The Rivnut will start to collapse to the point that

it is no longer possible to unscrew the nut any further and the Rivnut is completely 'set'

It helps to use some oil on the nut and washers , and complete the whole operation in one go to avoid any possible

work hardening of the Rivnut . Ideally practice on some scrap material first
