I was thinking about my FM and how i'd love the chance to get it sorted at the time of writing
so nothing intended just getting withdrawel symptons at the mo but at least i got the weight right 
..

Trouble is Mike i've nowhere to work on the bike atm so i've gotta pray for a few days dry weather

As for pedals well it's gotta be black as silver just wouldn't give a decent contrast against the crankset ..

No wonder its come in all anorexic like
I can see further weight savings could be acheived if you decided to go down that track, not that I think you really need too , there is hardly anything to it now
I know what you mean about the cost of tyres , especially the original NOS ones that pop up now and again :facepalm: , recently I've been looking at various alternatives and noticed that some companies are re-issuing various models, ritchey for example (as you may be aware) produce a new modern version of the z max, Onza also do a skinwall.
Prices I think are still steep but I'd sooner pay for new rubber than old and have the piece of mind they won't fall apart or tear in two 
Pedal wise I think black or the silver would work, or go totally different and find a set of the WCS champagne/bronze coloured ones

I liked Panaracer Smoke tyres BITD, and they make a Classic version now. Still too much for me, and I have a pile of tyres to use before I need to get more.

It's been aaaaaages since I built this bike, and today - embarassingly - was the first time I rode it in anger off-road.
The first three photos were taken on my way to work, in glorious sunshine at around 6.45
Then I went for a ride after work. Sadly, it was cloudy for the ride, but a lot of fun nonetheless.
Don't look bad from where I'm sitting,
Up onto the South Downs Way, towards the pig farm on the horizon
Got past it pretty quickly, now in the background. Boy, do I miss a bacon sandwich!
Quick swig of water, and a photo before my rooty local singletrack
This being pretty technical, as they say.
I've only made it maybe 40% of the times I've tried it, going this way, without stalling/putting a foot down. Made it this time! Forget it in the wet though. Ok riding towards the camera though, just!
There you go, proof that I did get it dirty!
Overall I'm very pleased with the bike. Felt a bit short at first, but after I moved the saddlle back, was a lot better. Not sure how strong the cantis are though, emergency stops may not happen, More of a controlled slow down! :roll:
