Re:

Sad news indeed! :(

I only heard of Steve's death today when discussing his recent history of early UK mountain biking with a bike shop assistant. Quite a shock!

Steve lived his life with his passion for cycling at its core and unlike many of us he had the talent and drive to make a living from the sport he so loved. Even though I didn't always agree with his technical conclusions, I always respected his opinions as being well researched, well considered and independent.

He shared my interest in the early history of UK mountain biking. And I feel that now he is no longer around to write on such topics, it could mean that the story of how the mountain biking in Britain began, and the contribution of Britain to mountain bike development, may now go unreported.

Steve, his generosity, and his informative writing will be greatly missed! RIP

Re:

Just seen this myself, so, so, very sad, similar age to me and had similar interests, especially in the engineering and technology side of our sport, bought lots of bits off him over the years and always loved his writing style.
Heartfelt sympathies to all his close friends and family, I feel his spirit will always be with us out on the trails. Ride on old friend!
