Is drink driving as big an issue as it is in the UK?

did you really say that?
I hope I misunderstood.

Putting innocent people at risk is never acceptable, and ive seen the alledged pic of him drinking just hours before his 'drive' home.. and he looks bloated and smashed.

Having said that, I did really like him, he had the best persona of that motley crew.
Just dont take PartyBoy from us too lord!

:? I know people are entitled too there opinions, But this was meant too be about remembering a guy who has made mistakes, But he wasn't a bad guy.

Sure people say he was drinking and speeding, That's a bad thing too do. But don't get caught up on that.

P.S. Have you seen "PartyBoy" Pontius on WildBoyz? I have all of those DVD's.. It's good.

Im sorry to sound like an old bore, but when youve got kids you tend to look at things in a different perspective.

Im all for living to extremes and all that, but getting into a car when blotto'd is not something you should brush under the carpet - heaven forbid he drove into a group of kids / family car etc etc.
How would you cope if your loved ones were taken away from you by someone acting so selfishly?

As I said, I really liked him and found him the most watchable of the Jackass crew (along with Pontius the legend!), but it needs to be said - it was a dumb way to go.

i obviously did just say that, it is right there. possibly you have misunderstood. Ididnt say that i condone drink driving, far from it. different countries have different cultures. I am not up on US culture. In this country drink driving carries a huge and in the most part justified stigma, i was only wondering if it was the same in the us.

feel free to dismount that high horse

Cool...heh heh......heh heh heh!

it is frowned upon over there, but due to the general spread out nature of the place, and the fact hardly anyone outside of a city lives close to a bar, many do drink and drive

From my time living in the states I found that few cities had the 'pub culture' unless they were older cities like New York or Phila which have grown slowly from colonial roots and have residential side by side with business, rather than the new town model of Suburbs/Downtown.

Most newer cities have entertainment centres in Downtown areas of just out of town that are separated from the 'burbs and, as Akula eluded to, many people do drink and drive because of that.

It is frowned upon and there are always campaigns regarding 'designated drivers' but the legal penalties are far less serious than over here and the roadside sobriety tests are often less than rigorous (like the 'walk in a straight line' or touch your nose' test that you see on Worlds Wildest Police Chases with Dodad Burnell).

Sad thing was that this guy lived the 'live fast, die young' life and that seems to have cost him and someone else their lives.

On the plus side this sort of accident may be a wake up call to all the younger followers of these risky programs that there are reactions and consequences to your actions.
Jackass is wildly funny but it is like a cartoon in that you see someone do something dangerous, but straight after the person is back up and on to the next stunt. People see that these guys are hugely rewarded for their reckless behaviour and that is as dangerous as the glamorising of gun culture.

That said, almost all of that is jealousy talking, I would love to be paid millions to arse around.

Sad and stupid loss, even if he wasn't drinking he was tanking it in his car.
