Rim Tape

I have my new Open Pro rims ready to build up.
The plan was to swap all the parts from the old CXP 33s - including rim tape.
It is Velox Fond de Jante adhesive fabric tape. The front tape is immaculate and still sticky. The stuff at the back seems to have become one with the aluminium underneath and has lost any hint of stickiness. It looks pretty mangy.
So, is there any performance enhancement from different types of tape? I love the look of the cloth stuff, but seeing as I'll only see it when swapping my tyres, that's not really much of a justification to pay about four times as much.
I know that I'm being really pedantic, but then that's one of the things I love about this site.
So, which clincher rim tape offers best performance, or are they all the same?

Cheers

James-

The Velox fiberglass reinforced cloth rim tape has worked well for me. It is extremely sticky and stable once bedded into the well in the rim and does not seem to shift under air pressure when the wheel is inflated. Be absolutely sure you get the correct width to fit snugly in your rims' wells.

I've used the yellow Michelin plastic tapes but find that occasional flats can occur as the tape can shift unless there is a perfect fit of tape to rim. After the 4th flat on the way to work, I switched to Velox and there were no further flats. Definitely worth the cost difference to reduce the aggravation and wasted time. Rubber rim tapes do not even bear thinking about.

Thanks for that! I'll get myself some more Velox then.
This is my first wheel build using new rims - i normally just scrounge old parts and eke a bit more life out of them - so I want it to work well.
Cheers
