Ridgeback 601 LX

Re: Ridgeback 601 info

Around 85-87, I don't think they made the Red S stuff for long. The lever blades are anodised and the bodies painted.

Re:

Update -
So ive managed to get the frame, forks & bars and some of the parts spayed up in the last few days,
Masking up the decals was a bit of a gamble but i think its turned out okay, the only issue i had was on the head tube, when i peeled off the masking tape it pulled off half the paint decal with it, i had to think of a way to get it back onto the frame so came up with an idea of using double sided tape (very sticky). i stuck the double sided tape to kitchen worktop then placed the masking tape, decal side down onto it and firmly pressed it down all over , then carefully peeled back the masking tape which left the decal stuck intact to the double sided tape which i was then able to stick back on the frame.

Im going to use these pedals rather then the plastic ones which were on it as im not sure if the were original to the bike.

Re:

Been gradually getting it ready over the winter and now finally had time to build it back up and managed to source a set of Araya wheels to go on it aswell.

All ready for a retro ride out pub run :P

Excellent job mate !! , that really does look the part now you've put aii that time and effort into it and so glad you didn't put resin bodied pedals on it as you'd of ruined all that hard work that you put into it ...

Re:

Appreciate the compliments guys, & yeah the old pedals where pretty naff.

Being just a low end Mtb from the mid to late 80's the components have lasted really well and put shame to the low end stuff out there today.
Its a bit of a small frame for me, and the geometry reminds me of those early Klunkers.

Cheers .

I'm sure the geometry on the Muddy fox's from the late 80's wasn't much different to your Ridgeback
which made for an excellent cruiser and i loved it so what's your plans for it now then? ..
