'Richmond' 531c - 80's racer with 105 group - 24hr refurb...

Just picked up my sunday night ebay purchase..

Really happy with it, i only wanted the turbo saddle and the bike was gonna be a bonus.

It looks like the rear rim has been replaced at some point and the top tube may have been covered in tape, resulting in rust. One small ding on a seat stay, but otherwise all good. Complete 105 group in fairly good nick - once i degrease it.

I only bought it for the saddle really, so i know nothing about richmond, so if anyone can shed any light i would be very grateful..

Stage 1 complete - the fun part - strip down

Stage 2 - clean

Stage 3 - respray ....???

Stage 4 - rebuild

Is there a correct way to remove a chain that appears to have no link?

It has very little wear so i want to reuse it..

May have something to do with this shop estb. in 1979. Richmond Upon Thames. Possibly re-branded frames built by somebody else.

Stage 2 - clean...

(Probably is Richmond Cycles, i only picked the bike up about a mile from richmond?)

Stage 3 - paint ( cosmetic spruce up !)

Rubbed the top tube down, masked it off up to the lugs and gave it two coats of white primer..
