Reynolds 531 Magic Tubing

I think whatever your frame is made of, if you like ride it. If you don't sell it. Technical specs and opinions mean nothing to any of us in the real world, if we enjoy what we ride. I think sometimes we are all guilty of overthinking. Ride and be damned :)
Agreed, but it is also nice trying to understand why a specific frame is so pleasant to ride. For us in the real world, indeed, the experience prevails, but I am still amazed by the sum of knowledge underlying a bike construction - and all of it is not necessarily BS or fashion! 🙃

If you want to really dive deep into these effects have a look at this calculator from Anvil Frameworks: http://web.archive.org/web/20050215103730/http://anvilbikes.com/tubeCalc.php
It allows you to compare different materials, diameter, wall thickness, tube and butt lengths and their effect on weight, moment of inertia, plain and torsional stiffness etc,

It is now archived and not a live website, since Don Ferris retired a few years ago, but it allows a builder to compare the physical properties of different tubes and adjust many of the variables.

All the best,
