Retro MTB with 2-Stroke Engine

Looks like a Raleigh MTB. Not sure of exact model or year, but it has non-Aheadset forks and stem, so I'd guess late 1990s. Engine looks very clean, not sure if its new or refurbished. They're asking £140, so it's much better value for money than an E-MTB.

They're asking £140, so it's much better value for money than an E-MTB.

It is if you don't value your driving license.

You are quite right. Technically it's not road legal. Although that doesn't seem to stop the E-Scooter riders.

It might be OK at a trail centre, but perhaps the E-MTB riders would complain.

By the time you have taxed it (for which you need to register it, for which you need an msva certificate, for which you will need it tested) and insured it (for which you will need to find a specialist who will deal with custom motorbikes), a puch maxi or crunch 50 is going to look a lot more attractive cost and reliability wise.

But for a bit of of road fun......wooohooo.

Running a Puch Maxi would be quite cheap compared to running a modern mountain bike. New tyres for just £36 or £22.5. Forks for just £79.

And funnily enough, I used to know a lad who had a Puch Maxi that he used to ride around the trails in the local woods. Maybe we're doing it all wrong spending so much on mountain bikes.

If you really want an engine on a bicycle, then opt for one of the very early motorbikes. They have a top speed of usually about 25mph, but unlike the monstrosity pictured look far better despite like this its tatty condition.
I could do so much restoration to this bike in the vid. More polished brass and enameling.
