RETRO KIRK MOUNTAINBIKE EBAY U.K.

I was always really curious about these and secretly admired them from afar...my £75 bid doesn't meet the reserve though

They looked really cool and hi-tech - but were pretty heavy. My mate had one BITD, I'm sure it cracked.

I have to agree.

Good friend of mine had one of these when we were kids. We saw it, stood open jawed for 5 minutes. Then we lifted it. Well my buddies old built for war Raleigh was lighter.

Those things looked unusual, weighed as much as a sumo wrestlers packed lunch and were highly susceptible to cracking if ridden hard. At least that one was.

Picture the fact that the frame is Magnesium (yes an alloy but we were kids...). We had just completed the old "reactive metals" test at school. Magnesium, Lithium, Potassium......in water. Guess what we wanted to do with the Kirk....

Biggest white elephant purchase I've ever seen. They are still a bit of history though and unique as far as I know. Who else made Magnesium frames...?
