You're right - Geometry every time.
I just can't see why Kona made them that way.
To reduce flex? Maybe... but their 29er forks are much longer.

"Reduced tooling costs"? Maybe. But that would be a bit sad - it's not like the original P2 design owes them anything - there must be countless pairs around.

I just don't see why they couldn't achieve the geometry they wanted; At a decent cost; While looking good. Kona used to excel at making good-looking bikes... [looks around for rose-tinted retro specs]

Only joking! Ironically they designed this to deal with exactly the problem that Jones has, but obviously it was a bit of a design blunder and the 29er fork looks much better. Below are pics of a fugly fork on a repainted 94 Kilauea, just to show what it looks like, and of the 44cm fork he really should choose.
