I know its strictly speaking not retro but its a Kona and its steel so perhaps you'll let me get away with it :? :lol:

I'm building up a singlespeed commuter bike its going to be parked next to my workbench so it can be a bit nice without fear of being stolen :)

The frame just arrived this minute its pretty tatty but still looks o.k and I was going to put black P2s on it :wink: but these also just arrived :roll: and although P2s seem the obvious choice I do quite like the look of these on it :shock:

Put them on or not ? :?

The chainset isn't staying it was on it when it arrived and before anyone mentions the forks being at a strange angle their just sitting in there loosely for the photo :roll: :D

Are they long enough?

Not perfect but they'll do for my commuter :wink: they are the slightly longer 420mm crown race to centre of axle ones so their not really really short so I don't think it will feel terrible with them on :)

Ah, I didn't know they'd made a longer model. Mine are only about 385mm axle-to-crown.

I reckon a P2 would suit the bike better, but why not try the Pace since you've got it there? We all know what a P2 looks like in an Explosif, and it's only a 20 minute job to switch.

Looks good to me.

2004 Explosif geometry gave a 71 degree head angle with a 456mm fork less 20mm sag = 436. So a 420mm rigid fork will give a head angle of almost exactly 72. I'd guess that would just hold your attention nicely, rather than give you any problem.

Think thats what I'll do :wink: to be honest I didn't know they made the longer ones either and only bought them as they were cheapish so it was a nice suprise when I measured them up :wink:

Thanks for that Anthony :wink: thats something like I had in my head but its nice to have it confirmed by someone who knows what their talking about :)

And incidentally don't forget that P2s are one cm shorter, so will give a slightly steeper head angle of c72.5.

Unless you go for these, which are 44cm therefore ideal geometry-wise, but for some unaccountable reason some folks don't like them.

Is it cos:

1. They are fugly;

2. They manage to give a longer A-C measurement but without any more tyre clearance (for deviant 650B or 29er experiments);

3. Thereby looking stupid. And fugly. And un-worthy of the Kona name.

Tho I could be grossly mistaken, of course. :D

Pace rigids: Very acceptable.

So are you hinting that you don't want to buy them off me then?

Surely looks aren't more important than geometry are they?
