Rummaging through my old bike bits I've re-discovered a Hope square taper BB that I bought some years back. Closer inspection reveals the axle isn't the length I thought it was and it might be suitable for a set of cranks I bought a few weeks ago. Except... it's for a 68mm shell, and I need 73. So, the burning question is: Can I fit it to a 73mm shell by leaving the lockrings off?
