But yes, quite late. . . had my racer when I was 13-ish (Carlton Pro-Am 12) and the next bike I had was my Kona in '93..
Sold that in bits in about '03 and bought more bikes earlier this year.

What about if you calculate the cost of everything you ever had fitted to one particular frame?

My Dave Yates has had over £1K of forks since I bought it in 93. There's easily been £3Ks worth of parts on it over the years, not including the frame itself. Luckily I've been trade for most of that time so the bill has been considerably less.

Would be lucky to get £600 for it should I sell it on....

Certainly not ashamed of it though as most stuff was changed due to wear and tear...

Being a tight arsed scot I bought most of my stuff in the sales - GT xizang was half price @£700 for the frame and forks. 1992/93 Followed by Mag21's in 93 at around £240

1991 - Bullseyes were "only" £120 but I queued from 6am to get them. Hope front disc wheel was full price £180 for the hub and caliper, £30 for the rim and £20 for the wheelbuild. At that time a Front XT mech was around 17 and a rear was around 35 IIRC.

looking at what i spent to build a pretty much wish list pace earlier
this year ,i reckon about £650 ,granted the only new bits were the chain
and cables but i think thats not bad going
