I'm pretty new to this site and only stumbled across it when I was searching for a Giant Team World Cup Atlanta similar to the one I owned in the mid 90s. Now I have a retro Marin project in the shed and look at every bike I pass to see if its anything interesting. I think that my new found hobby hit a high (my wife might say low) when I was watching a film called Unknown. About an hour and 5 mins in I noticed an example of the very bike that introduced me to this site locked to a railing with its seat post and rear wheel missing. Bit of a shame really.

welcome bert, but its a slippery slope, if your wife aint over joyed now, you just wait until your wallet is empty and your garage and every available space is taken up by bikes and bits,and your having the why does anyone need 5,6,7+ bikes anyway conversation again

New to this site, having owned many mtb and road bikes full suss hardtail mostly now a collection of one titanium hardtail, one Ti full suss and a full carbon road bike and one or two old retro mtbs. I was having a sort out in the garage and came across my old Cannondale m300 that I have owned for 12 yrs and purchased it secondhand, I was wondering what year it was ? its fully rigid and purple in colour. I just tinkered with it sorted the gears and brakes and just rode my local loop, and I can honestly say really enjoyed the experience 
So different to my other bikes. Think I will put some spds on it and carry on with the Retro feel.

Welcome to rb ti man......don't see the retro thing as replacing modern, it just adds another dimension to it all.....

Exactly this... I will always have my current (probably more up to date bike) but there is just something about those older bikes that you can't let go of.
I live in New Zealand and we get some very interesting examples of older bikes for sale, mostly they are imported by the owner when they have come here to live. For instance, I doubt Raleigh Dyna Techs, Specialised, Kona or Marin was sold in NZ prior to 1995 (at a guess...) just from what I have seen for sale is mainly imported from the States or UK. Makes finding parts/bikes hard to come by... but special when you come across what you want.
