Retail price list for Rocky Mountain range in 1993

Sorry but some of the above seems odd to me.

My mate Pete Davies (another MadCow - see my gallery) was riding a sponsored Rocky Mountain in 1993/4, a Hammer or Blizzard I think, that was supplied by the local Rocky Mountain dealer in Potters Bar, Herts. Think it was called Ozone?

So how can there be a dealer but no importes?

Well, you tell me - I suppose it could have been in 1993 that your mate was a sponsored rider and Ozone quite possibly were RM dealers then . However, maybe the actual importers folded some time after that, meaning no more retail sales ?
All I know is that what I originally wrote regarding the purchase of my Blizzard is 100% correct (odd or not..) - I had the original purchase documents in front of me at the time. That's how I could be so specific about the date and price.

Sorry Andy, not questioning your story.

Maybe my memory of dates is wrong? Who knows. Still odd.

No probs Kev - sometimes I come across as sounding all snotty about something when I'm really not  .

If I hadn't been able to lay my hands on the paperwork I couldn't have told you whether it was 1993 or 94 either - I have a memory like a sieve when it comes to dates.

Why RM should have been selling the previous year's bikes at reduced prices I really don't know. I mean, there was obviously a RM UK organisation cos that's who the cheque was made out to, although it was sent to the firm of accountants (presumably RM UK's accountants?)

These weren't unsold UK stock (as might have been the case if the UK importer had folded) but were sent direct from Canada. As I said, I had a couple of phone conversations with them to sort out sizes etc. But why not sell the current years stock? Presumably there was a surplus of unsold stock in Canada and this was a way of shifting it to a market temporarily starved of RM supplies.

This loosely fits in with something else....the fact they (RM) appeared to keep stock of frames with no decals and these often moved forward into MY+1 and had the latest decal colours/scheme applied and sold as that years model.

My Cirrus was made in 1991 but came with 1992 decals/colours.

A similar but unrelated situation exists with my Cannondale (frame one year, paint & decals from another).....I guess it was a common method of dumping stock?
