Restoring '93 Rocky Mountain Blizzard: Looking for decals

93Blizzard

Retro Newbie
Hey everyone!
I am looking to restore my very tired '93 Blizzard.
Does anyone have any information on how I can find a set of Decals for this bike?

Also, I can't seem to find any nice high-resolution pics of this bike.. Any ideas would be very much appreciated.

Thanks
David

Hi David -

I've got a 1993 Blizzard in need of new decals too. I take it that yours has the white to black fade paint job, where the original decals were the full "wrap round" type that completely covered the fade area.

I thought that they looked pretty naff (and cheap-looking on a frame that wasn't !!), to be honest, and took mine off years ago. However, I'd like to get some of the more standard-looking ones so we could combine an order maybe?

Depends whether Gil_M has any on file that he can work from I suppose.

I've got some pics of my 93 Blizzard - I'll root them out but they are minus frame decals I'm afraid ! I do have a 1993 brochure too, I'm sure someone has already posted a scan of this somewhere on here though. I'll have a look :?

Sorry - but this is the only pic I can lay my hands on at the moment. I'd take some more, but the Blizzard is in Greece and I won't be there for another three weeks.

Set up for my wife, hence the flat pedals, womens saddle and short, high stem  . However, I keep threatening to reclaim it - I have a set of Magura Asgard forks on their way ( I hope :?: ) which have a very short (160mm) steerer, but that'll be no problem on this frame 8) .

I had one of those back in the day, the white and black had a lovely pealescant effect through them.

The frame was made from TrueTemper wheras the 1992 I had before was Columbus Max.

Mine cracked at the brazed join where the seatstays joined the seattube after about a year, I sold it on after it was reparied under warranty. This was the third Blizzard frame I warrantied in two years

I still have a soft spot for them despite all the hassles I had.

Yep, that's right - True Temper Ox tubes.

Actually, I might bring mine back here (the Isle of Man) and return it to its original spec. I still have the original rigid forks and the stem too. They were both up for sale on here but got no interest, so I might as well do something with them and anyway, the steerer is too short to fit anything else .

The whole bike has had very little use - still on the original rims, mechs and chainrings and hardly a mark on the paintwork. Only thing that's changed is that it has rapidfire shifters instead of the original thumbshifters. Oh - and it has V brakes instead of the Dia-Compe cantis (sold unfortunately..)

Step 1: scrap off all the old stickers from my frame!

Thanks for everyones efforts and replies!!

Everyone has been very helpful.

Andy R: I emailed Gil_M re: decals. Hopefully he will reply soon at which time I will ask about getting a few copies. I think it is a great idea to double up on our order. Let me know if you end up loosing interest so I don't get stuck with buying more copies than I require..

Thanks everyone! What a great Forum!

David
