Respraying a frame that doesn't need it.

Leave it as it is, but get your stem and forks sprayed white, add a nice white saddle, and leave it there? (unless you want to go down the white porcs route, but you mentioned riding it...) maybe grips, but not sure on that one.

I prefer yours to Sunchasers. But that's got a lot to do with the decals.

If i were you i'd look for another frame to respray.

Trouble is even tatty ones are going for decent money now so with a respray on top it ends up getting a bit out of control

I probably should just build it up and ride it  but I've had it over 10 years now ( from new) so if I have it reprayed it will feel like getting a new bike and maybe stop me buying another one :D

There was an 18" Kilauea in need of a respray for £40 knocking about on here not long ago. I think it changed hands a couple of times, i'm sure Doug ended up with it.

Plenty of bargains about if you want one.

don't so it, sure the white one is nice, but what a waste. If you don't like it like that sell it to someone else who will appreciate the colours and find something else to ride. That way it will not just sit around gathering dust.

Right I'll give myself a month to find a tatty one and if I can't then I'll press ahead with the vandalism :)

Right I'm off to write a wanted ad :D

Respray the damn thing! It'll look a peach and you'll be " preserving " the steel underneath. We ooh and umm and ahh about a second coat but take 2 minutes to think about buying a 6th bike...daft.

Hello,
Dont have it resprayed, the frame looked fine, why dont you buy some good bits for the bike, everything from new and you will feel that you have a new bike.
It would be a shame to ruin it and your cash on respray job.

I think Kona frame values have fallen quite a bit actually, and you shouldn't have to pay much for a tatty one. But although I'm biased, yours looks very good to me, it even seems a much brighter blue than mine - maybe I need to T-cut it or something.

I agree with TallPaul that the yellow 97 decals are really cool and go beautifully well with the dark blue paint. Yours seems a very good example and I definitely prefer it to Sunchaser's personally, nice as his example is.

It does seem a bit of a shame to respay a nice original frame but, at the end of the day it's just a bike frame not some precious masterpiece

If it means you'd get more enjoyment out of it.. go for the paint job :)
