Red bike with 97 Explosif stickers

I don't know what this bike is. The seller seems genuine, and believes it to be an Explosif of unknown year.

The dropouts date it to 94 or later, while the cable routing dates it to 96 or earlier (the V-stop was presumably added when it was repainted).

The top tube seems to be slimmer than the down tube, which suggests that it is a high-end frame, but not a 94 or 95 Kilauea.

It also doesn't have biovalised tubes, so it isn't a 95 or 96 Explosif.

The seller says it doesn't have a ribbed downtube, and I can't make out any bulging at the bottom of the seat tube, which suggests that it isn't a 94 Explosif.

It could still be a 96 Kilauea though. Which is a very good frame. But I don't really know for sure. I could ask him for the serial number, but it isn't my size and I guess there's a limit to how much I should pester people just to keep you guys informed....

£165 for a bike said to be an Explosif. Others must have shared my doubts.

The funny thing about dubious resprays is that if that bike was a 96 Kilauea and had been given 96 Kilauea stickers, it would have been worth a lot more than £165, local pickup notwithstanding. Always best for a bike to be demonstrably what it is claimed to be.
