Record ace moderne 1989 rims

Can anyone tell me the correct rims for this bike please? I have looked in the archive at the brochure and other obvious sites but I can't see the rims.

The 1989 Lightweight catalogue describes them as "anodised aero rims", and later as "Alesa alloy, grey anodised".

The Alesa 9013 would fit the bill - right period, shallow aero profile, and available in a grey anodised finish.

There's a Weinmann logo visible on the front wheel here:

Alesa and Weinmann rims were identical but for the name, and thats a 9013 profile.

To judge by the condition of the bike (and the Santé hubs) I think it's fair to assume the rims are original.

Thanks Jim, I can't see that logo though, I must be going blind, decision time, do I spend a fortune having a set of wheels built or just use my Mavic open 4 CD wheels hmm!

Cost versus originality is one of those eternal dilemmas. I'd say ride the wheels you have, and keep an eye on eBay for an affordable pair of original rims.

I'll keep an eye on eBay as I can't warrant £250+ for a set of wheels especially as the headset is non original ( although I did hear the original headsets aren't very good).

I have managed to pick up the rest of the groupset in not too bad condition, but, it still will need an original seat and handlebars, so I guess I'll have to see what I can find, and how far I want to take it restoration wise, I do like the bike it's the lightest one I own.


Ps: Does anyone know what model 3ttt handlebars it had?

My Raleigh Corsa (from the same 1988 catalogue) had Weinmann "aero" alloy rims if that helps.
