Recommended Rims ?

Hi guy`s, I`ve already posted this thread once but it was in the wrong section  Anyhoo, I`m after recommendations for 700c/29er rims for trekking/touring purposes to use on different terrains.

Does anybody have any experience of any particular make ?

Cheers

Mavic A719 should be on your list - they build into a bullet-proof wheel and will happily take 2.25" tyres.

Apologies gump.................it was`nt intentional. I had just aquired a steel 531 Saracen frame "hand built in England" that takes a 700c/29er wheel with clearance for wide tyres and did`nt know the age of it or anything else. However just recently found out from another retrobiker and its post 98`.

Amongst touring people, the rim that's in favour appears to be the Rigida Sputnik. The A719 is a good rim, too, but the Rigida is a bit beefier and a lot cheaper.

Amongst long-distance tourers the Mavics have a reputation for cracking around the spoke eyelets. I'm another one for the Sputniks. Try Spa Cycles.
