Devout Dirtbag
I'm in the final stages of rebuilding my bike. I finally have all the parts to reassemble my '99 Pace RC36 EvoII forks.
Looking at the manual tonight I notice that it recommends 10wt oil for these forks, but sometime in my past I bought 5wt for these forks. I'm now wondering why I did this.
It is quite possible that I thought I wanted less damping on the fork hence the lighter wt. But in hindsight, the old oil was years old and was a little sludgy. On the other hand, something nags at me that I read that this fork works work better with lighter oil hence the decision to buy 5wt.
In the past (before I serviced these sludgy forks) I was beginning to suffer from wrist "buzz" from the bars. This may have factored into my mind for less damping.
So the question is, what would you recommend for these forks? Standard 10wt oil something a little lighter, say 7wt or a custom mix to about 8wt?
