Thanks for the mention..

I have welded plenty of aluminium frame repairs, but unfortunately an Orange will be 6061-T6 alloy, so would require a difficult 2-stage post-weld heat treatment.
Thankfully, the Manitous and Paces that I mostly see are 7005 alloy, so require a far easier process.

I'd try Orange first, as they should have the facilities or sub-contractors, to do both do the repair (which is the easy bit) and get it solution heat treated, quenched, aligned and artificially aged.

All the best,

Thanks for the feedback much appreciated. Will try Orange and see what they say. But the above has been extremely useful. So thanks 8)

Had a browse through the old catalogues. The modern bikes are 6061-T6 but I can see 7005 & their 'own series' is widely used from early 90's. 6061 first mentioned with the monocoque UFO in 1998 & on future monoque designs but 7005 is still used for some of the hard tales into the 2000's

Yes, it would make sense that they're using 6061 sheet for the folded monocoque stuff and 7005 tube, presumably Taiwanese, for the round frames.
I hope they didn't ever mix the alloys in one frame...

7005 sheet is really rare, although the matching European spec 7020 material is available in sheet.

So maybe with a bit of research....if the OP's frame is 7005, it can be repaired easily.

All the best,
