With the travel agent there is a tight angle on the cable as it goes from one wheel to the next but there isn't really any movement between the cable and pulley wheel in use as the wheel moves with the cable under braking. I guess it is a stress raiser on the cable to keep an eye on but it seems a minimal risk of failing. More something to check when doing general maintenance
Looking forward to hearing how it works out. I have used them with v brakes and mini v's and they worked well. Before using them I read all sorts of things saying the cable will fail when hurtling down hill but it never didIt doesn't look great and is not ideal, but i think if there was an issue then we would know about it. Travel Agents and copies have been around a long time now, and lord knows how many are being used, so if there was a problem then Problem Solvers would be deep in the do-do , by now.
I am going to give one a try on my next build. Being me i will not be mounting it where it is normally mounted as i want it out of all the muck and grime that could lead to bad performance/longevity. Am going to use a carbon combined stem and bar that has threads under the stem , for an 'out front' computer mount and i had a brainfart.
Using a spacer it is possible to mount the TA under the stem so the cable comes out of the bar and into the TA and then exits on the same side as the noodle. That is the plan, anyway, and it keeps life spicey by hiding the TA and not being able to just glance at it to check the cable condition![]()
Tektro RX6 look quite nice and are the same length as shimano r353's at 90mm. Could be a nice all round solution as long as they are long enough to clear mudguards, which I can trial using my r353's firstI forgot about the Campagnolo/Shimano issue there, there are other mini V's but they are shorter. The Tektro rx4 were brilliant but haven't seen them for sale for a while.
