Just relaised that I have not been looking after my lovely bike bits so thought I'd better get some decent grease/lube ordered and degreaser. Any really good ones out there, do I actually need/want degreaser. And do I want wet or dry lube?. I sound like a right numb nuts

De-greaser/cleaner, Fenwicks FS-1

Dilute 1:1 with water for cleaning the chain and degreasing greasy things.

Dilute 10:1 with water for cleaning the bike.

Instructions:

Spray on, go and put kettle on, while tea is brewing rub well with a washing up brush (not the one from the kitchen, buy 5 for £1 from poundland) making sure to get in between all the sprockets of the cassette and pay special attention to the chain, really go to town on it. Go and drink tea. Hose off. Job done your bike and chain will now be clean!

For chain lube I use Rock n Roll Extreme. Both products available from Wiggle. I bought a 5 litre bottle a year ago, I have used about half of it, it costs but lasts for ever. I clean by work bike, particularly the chain, every week, my other bikes get cleaned after every ride.

My LBS sells Prolink chainlube and that is what I use generally. Aside from this I have used lubes that come in wet and dry versions. Dry lube is cleaner for general use I find. LBS recommends wet lube to protect chain in bad weather conditions but I think the chain gets dirty more quickly when I use it as it's a heavier lubricant.

For degeaser I like Finishline citrus degreaser - you dilute it with water. Not so keen on the Halfords own brand version that you use straight from the tin. Have also used a spray degreaser from Decathlon which is convenient whilst travelling in our camper.

I'm sure everyone has their favourite!

the cheapest place for degreaser is local motorist shops. Bike shops are to expensive round my way.

GT-85 is all i use. thick oils just help the dirt stick.
