Recommend me a Jimi Hendrix

EL certainly is a deep statement.

What turns me on stands repeated listening, and that covers just about all of Jimi's work.

I would think if one is restricting it to one long play it would be better to make a mix tape so you can include Villanova Junction and Pali Gap, things that make sense when you are floating through the scene.

Live at Woodstock, every time. Worth it for the opening few minutes alone: where Jimi is chatting and the band are tuning and he mutters, 'we're gonna do this primary rythmn thing' and then launches in to an almighty rendition of let me stand next to your fire (can never remember if that's the track name or not). Turned up to an acceptable volume (i.e. slightly below 'bleeding ears') it blows you away every time - guaranteed stupid grins. Get it, listen to it. It's gotta be live, man. Spread the love man.

I am really getting into 60's rock music. Deep Purple, The Who, Cream, Jimi. All fantastic stuff that has not aged.

Gotta try some early stones then. Things like, 'under my thumb', just amazing tracks. Lot of rot around as well... but pick carefully and there's some beautiful stuff. Also thinking here of Jefferson Airplane (need somebody to love) and the fringes of Creedance Clearwater revivial, and so on. :)

I dont know much as its before my time but i used to have live at the isle of wight on vinyl which was a good listen.
