Recommend me a 1" headset

I am just starting out to rebuild a 1992 Chas Roberts DB, and one of the things I want to hand over to whoever resprays it, is a headset.

I am looking for a black, 1" Ahead headset, that will do the frame justice and ideally I would like it made in the UK, but I don't think that's an option.

So what are the alternatives? Obviously, top of the list for quality is Chris King, after that I just get lost in a sea of names and generic Taiwanese lookalikes.

Your recommendations please.

92 there was very little to go at. My Dave Yates "lived with" a bottom of the range Dia-compe steel unit until 95 when I found a no-name alloy needle bearing unit, then a Primax the year after. King is really the only high-end unit from this period.

No UK made solutions in 1".

My Dave Yates now has a silver Rond cartridge system from around 97..... which is the closest I got to a sealed EU-made ahead system from that decade.

If it has to be black and period correctness is not an issue - King, Cane Creek or Stronglight.

Roberts did offer customers a besopke build choice back in the day as now, and Ritchey components were often a choice used for cranks headsets etc.

If not CK, then Ritchey, and they do a tidy aheadset in black for about £35.00.
