Recommend a good touring tyre?

I'm looking for some good touring 700c (or narrow 29'er) tyres for the current project, are any of you able to make some suggestions please?

Many thanks,

Lee.

Schwalbe Marathons are even tougher that Conti TTs IME - one of the few tyres I've managed not to puncture - simply wore through to the belting.

Worth every penny

Michelin world tours, cheap, good looking, grippy and very solid, mine have done plenty of riding around Northamptonshire lanes and towpaths, and also spend more or less every other weekend being abused in central london and have yet to puncture.

I'll add my usual suggestion: Panaracer Pasela. A wide range of sizes available, lighter than the suggestions above, and a much nicer ride.

Vittoria Zaffiro 28s i have done 5000 miles on them and never had a puncture. and they cost about £8 each. :)

A lot of velo people seem to say Paselas. I am building a bike for a dude friend, and that's what I put on the Wolber rims.

I haven't used them for touring, but I've been happy with Schwalbe Marathons for my urban commute. My decision was pretty strongly influenced by their reflective scotchlite strip, which seemed a great thing to have amongst traffic.

Specifically I've had a pair of the kevlar belted ones (HS308) on my mountain bike-based commuter for a few years and have had no punctures. I've just put a pair of the more recent kevlar belted ones (HS368) on my old Raleigh tourer and they seem to be doing an equally good job. I can't speak for the newer version (HS408) which has abandoned the kevlar belting in favour of a rubber layer a bit like the Marathon Plus.
