The road has been used on The Tour. It climbs 4000ft over 12km (or there abouts). The pros do it in about 40 minutes. It took me about 2 hours on knobblies. Its a killer. But the reward on the other side was a 20k continuous off road decent. Heaven.
I went there is 1995 on a guided tour by PyraActif. So the location is somewhere close to them.
Found the location. Its the climb to Superbagneres. Google Map
I was only about half way up at that point.
Incidentally, the PyrActif website claims that the descent from the top of Superbagneres is the longest in the Pyrenees at 1200m. I can tell you, even 14 years later that it was bloody awesome!
looks like the road that Jazza and the boys from "Top Gear" "discovered " As the ultimate driving road in europe last year , i cant for the life of me remember what they called it.... stylvio pass or similar
Top Gear's road was in the Alps. The did one on the Italian side and another in Switzerland (or perhaps it was Austria) so it wasn't this one. But I would agree that this would make an awesome driving road.
