Recession review 2012

Just wondering how you folks are doing, any peeps at the begining of the year worse off now, just wondering how hard it's hitting personal budgets compared to last year ?

We are on a tighter budget as i'm not working but re-training, we're still eating and paying the bills, but that's it........no spare income, if i want something i have to sell something.

Things are looking hopeful job wise as a volunteer with a few places now, paid jobs get offered to volunteers 1st.

Things are not too good financially with me, redundancy last year, every week applying for jobs, getting my hopes up and attending interviews, then getting depressed when the rejection letters arrive, albiet only for a matter of hours which is lucky.

And its a cliche but i am sure there are people far worse off than me.

Lucky my Wife works and keeps us afloat !!

I am looking at retraining, possibly some small (legal ) business venture, but am using the opportunity to spend some quality time with the kids take them to school, some house jobs and most importantly getting my bike projects finished and riding them as much as i can which gets me out of the house

yup my wife working, me re-training also....it's the only way i can see to create any stability for the future.

I'm not doing so bad other than the general cost of living rising. My wife had MS and mum biggest concern is how long she'll be fit enough to work.

I am almost afraid to say I am bucking the national trend and doing far better Q1 & 2 this year than I did over the same period last year.

A lot has changed, I now work for my self doing what I previously did for other people. So far its working out very well.
