rebuilding xt m735 pedals

Does anyone have any tips for rebuilding these beauties. Having spent ages looking for a socket set thin enough to access both nuts, I'm not sure how many bearings go (and where). I got these in a dismantled state, and they seem to be a nightmare to reassemble.

I presume they have bearings in each side, bit can i get the buggers to fit.

Am i just not being patient enough?

Otherwise I put them up for sale in the state they are and go back to a set of spds instead.

Have you looked on shimano website? Theh have exoloded parts diagram for many components.

Take a look inside the pedal for a race. Usually pedals have a plain bush near the crank and a cup/ball bearing race on the outer side.

Note that one of the small locking nuts may have lh thread.
You really need a box spanner tk gain access as sockets are twk wide, i mad one from a piece of ste tube and squeezed 6 sife on with a vice. Was good enough to undo the nut on my pedals.

i've taken apart m730, m731 and perhaps m735 pedals before and it takes a little finesse to get them back together. when i did dissassemble them, i kept all the pieces inline and in place to keep track of where everything goes and how. sorry can't give you much more than that as i don't recall much more than that and hadn't taken any pics as referrence.

i can try to see what i have spare and perhaps quickly disssemble one and provide photos and details.

I can't remember any difficulty in taking them apart, I use a snap on 1/4 drive socket not sure I think I have
use a thick wall industrial socket though.
Mine are in bit's on my desk, I have been going to draw the cages make some new ones, the
cages are worn to bad to use any more.
Nearly forgot, pretty sure there are bearings both sides. I will look when I am in the house later.

The axel looks correct I think, but I seem to be missing part 4 (a seal). I think that there's ni special trick, I'm just not persevering enough!

that black rubber seal tends to crack and rip, so might be gone. or it can be stuck in the opening on the cage body.

You just need a 10mm and a 7mm socket to take them apart.
They have a plastic bush as the inner bearing and the outer bearing is the ball races.
The outer race is the inner nut and the inner race is ground on the axle near the white plastic bush. If the pedal was sloppy you probably need a new plastic bush.

i believe only difference between m323 and later m324 pedals is the colour of the cages. and for a measly £1.98, i'd give it a go!
