Rebuilding forks elastermers

When putting a set of forks back together if each side takes 10 small elastermers let's say would it matter if you put say 3 big ones in as long as you fill the gap from top to bottom or do you have to put in exactly what came out has anyone tried this cheers

Yes, I've done what you are proposing with mixed results.
Firstly, the damping and rebound is affected, you could say firmer and 'quicker'. Almost harsh.
Now that's what I wanted actually but a bit of a slower compression would have been nice. Purely based on a quick setup though. Feel free to play around with the configuration of elastomer layout with long in first, followed by shorter, then change around until you are happy.
A long elastomer hates to squish.
The more segments yoy have, more travel and shock absorption will be enjoyed.
