Re-Anodising...

The place I used strips the colour first, chemically brightens and then reanodises. I don't know the exact processes they use for each step though :?

They give you a choice of gloss level - nice and bright to full matt (within reason) and a wide range of colours. They match to a sample for the colour to :D

The only problem is they deal in batches and have a min order cost :-(

There is another process linked to anodising called bright dipping, which makes aluminium shine better than polished aluminium, but it is a process many anodisers might not do due to the extremely hazardous nature of the it, but if that is what you desire in aluminium, the term you need to know is bright dip
