Raliegh 853 team frame

According to the seller, top tube is 52cm c-c (I thought he was referring to the road frame when he said this in the description) and seat tube 43.5cm c-t, so I guess that makes the frame about 16" to 16.5" if you're measuring seat tube c-c.

Bit small for me but I'm still very tempted.

Well it didn't actually sell at that price, so maybe it will raise more if he puts it on again with a better description.

I must say I personally don't find a weight of 1.59kg credible for Reynolds 853, even for such a small size, so I wonder whether it calls his other measurements into doubt.

There was a variant of 853 called Pro Team which had very thin walls and was made for road racing frames. That could perhaps make a 1.59kg frame, but I doubt whether either RSP or Louise Robinson would want to go mtb racing on such a flexy frame as that.

well he says he will take offers around the reserve as a buy price, otherwise, yeah it didnt sell.
as for the weight, he has confirmed it, so it could be a condidtion of sale if it came to it. it does seem very light (i stressed that to him when asking for confirmation) but plenty of road frames in 853 are around that, and its only 50 or 60 g less than that small p20 that sold recently, which would be deda or prestige. for a custom race frame, wouldnt be out of the question
im thinking of offering him the reserve and collecting in person with a wire brush and digital scales

Didn't realise this had been outed  been looking for a decent frame for my wife for a while and thought this had to be a bargain

Arrived in the post this morning 8) all his measurements were spot on, so it is indeed very small and very light

I'll start a thread once I start building it up :D
