Raleigh serial nos

i know this sounds silly but that sounds like a coventry post code more than a frame number .

that age are normally on underside of bottom bracker either w or n prefixed .

Picture looks like BV82ER or 8V, still a mystery???

Any more pics of the bike ?

When I worked in a bike shop we always stamped our own number on the bottom bracket and kept a record if the bike was nicked..

As the bike was painted it usually left a raised edge as the metal was pushed aside and it was never in a straight line LOL

Manufacturers numbers I guess were stamped before painting and someone filed the edges flat, also they might not have had a pint of stella the night before (that was all it took in 1977) so could stamp a number in a straight line LOL
