Hi folks. As i need to make space and raise some cash for my Dawes project, i've decided to move my 5 speed Raleigh Scorpio on. I believe it's a 1978 model, in the 21'5 " size. It's mostly standard and original, except for the seatpost and saddle, tyres and tubes, bar tape, brake levers and cables. I changed the levers as i like to ride on the lever hoods, and the original ones dont have rubber covers. They will be included in the sale though, should anyone choose to refit them.
The Scorpio originally came with a Brooks saddle, but this was sadly missing when i got the bike. The saddle i got for it may not be to everyone's tastes, but i think it suits it. The seatpost is a modern alloy single bolt micro adjust job, which isn't really in keeping with the rest of the bike, but works well and doesn't look too out of place. The tyres are new Michelin World Tours in 27 x 11/4.
The frame and forks are in fairly good condition, with some surface rust around the headtube, some damage to the decals(previous owner), and quite a few scratches to the paint here and there. I understand this was quite a fragile paintjob when new, but given that it's now 35 years old, i don't think it's too bad. Again, any damage was down to careless former owners. All the components are in good order, with the exception of some surface rust on a small section of the front wheel rim.
I normally sell bikes and bike parts on ebay, but thought that someone on here might like it so will try here first. I'm after £120 for it, to be collected from East Northants. I can send more pics upon request, just let me know
