Raleigh Road Ace - was it ever made in 753 tubing?

Hello chaps,

I know that there are some very knowledgeable people with regard to Raleigh's lightweight output in the 1980's. I've got a late Road Ace in 531c tubing but I just spotted this:

That's a 753 sticker. If I didn't know better I'd assume that someone's just stuck that over the original 531c one.

What do you reckon - does that say RENOVATED in red at the bottom?

Cheers,

Simon.

Yep stuck on, to best of my knowledge they never made this or any other off the peg bike is 753.

Road Ace Moderne was made in 653 tubing

Record Ace Moderne ;) I've looked at these a few times, for the 653 and Sante oddities, by accounts it's a great ride.

Carl.

Thanks for your replies, gents - you've confirmed what I thought.

I'd love an RRA Moderne with Sante groupset sometime now you mention it. I'll continue looking for that one. This Road Ace is therefore a normal one onto which someone has rather optimistically attached the wrong label. Great bike nonetheless.
