Raleigh M-Trax 50 Sport

Retro Newbie
Hello, I want share this as I’ve not been able to find a bike same as mine and there seem to be fans on here. I bought this bike back in 1997 (i think, could have been 1996) from Wakefield. I’ve attached some pictures. I am trying to trace some history and some advise. It’s has original parts (had to swap the seat for something more appropriate now) and in perfect working order expect the downshift for the rear gear does not work moving from down from 5 unless I apply slight upward pressure on press the thumb shift - I don’t know if it just needs adjusting to correct it?

Re:

Sounds like it just needs re-indexing. Should be relatively simple process but if not and you have a good LBS (Local Bike Shop) they can do it, as well as checking over chain, brakes, cabling etc.

If you fancy doing it yourself, there are many guides out there on how to re-index a rear mech/derailleur.
The former product head of SBDU/RSP is round & about here and on Facebook - and recently posted the catalogue pages for this bike!

Hi your bike is 1997
It was the lower end Sport followed by the Comp and then topped by the Elite series - where you had two (300 and 350) with a Reynolds Optima lite frame and the 400 and 450 with Titanium.
Your Frame is quite nice - I built my step son one using the frame you have - many years ago.
you’ll see all the selection in a 1997 catalogue. I’ll see if I can find one on the web.

I had the Mtrax Elite 350 - I’ve since given it to a good friend as a gift - here’s my old build thread
