Raleigh Frame Identification

Hi There All,

I have just spent a considerable amount of time looking for some kind of identification for this Raleigh esprit 12...



I have found nothing that looks like this one on google. I was actually wondering if it had Reynolds tubing, that's what started me on this crazy search and now i'm all out of luck. I've checked all the catalogues sites forums etc but have come up with nothing.

Can someone please enlighten me?

Well thats a bit of a mixture...........are you sure it's a Raleigh? Forged rear dropouts for a carriers, brazed on downtube for bar ends, relaxed angles, semi fastback stays, over BB cable guides with braze on TT top tube guides, nutted brakes..........The only thing Raleigh about it are the lugs and fork crown.

Is there a number on it?

yeah but it doesn't correspond to any of the Raleigh serials! TTE8654412 on the BB.

And yes it is a lot of a mixture!

Is the raleigh badge glued on or held with rivets........?

The decals are from a mid 80's Raleigh by the look of it.

I'm with Shaun on this, I don't think it's a Raleigh, especially considering the non Nottingham frame number.

Actually it has a sticker on it from a bike shop in South Africa
