Hi guys,

This is my first ever road bike that I’ve acquired as a swap.

It’s been repainted and hence has new stickers, but it claims to be 653 and possibly special products, something about the brazing too. Sorry I know very little about road bikes/Raleigh or Reynolds:/

Edit: are those dropouts Campagnolo?

It's after SBDU closed and moved back to Nottingham, after my time but SBDU morphed into the Special Products Division which I think had a unique SPD head badge, the date can be gleaned from the frame number.

I'm sure bikemeister2000 knew about these, maybe search some of his old posts, they only had the special head badge 1999-2001.

From my very fuddled memory "A" numbers are circa 1990

Thanks Midlife.
Yes that one has all of the same features such as the lugs at the front and the Campagnolo dropouts “1010/A” I think they’re called
So it’s much later than I thought and “SPD” poss made in Worksop? Edit no

Edit: and yes it’s 1990! :)

Re:

I bought one of these in 1993 from Geoffrey Butler Cycles as an off the peg standalone frame. Mine had Raleigh in a slightly different font but the frame number also started with A and the lugs look the same. I read somewhere they got a batch from Raleigh when they switched to making Dyna tech frames.
