Dirt Disciple
Hi,
I picked up this ladies Raleigh yesterday. Couldn't resist the paintwork, decals and the fact it had hardly been used. Paintwork 95% blemish free.

Just wondering if anyone has any background on this model? The lady who has stored it for 30+ years won it in a competition - I'm presuming by the perfume company. I was thinking that perhaps only a few were decaled and painted this way for Cacherell and that the usual model had a different paintwork. Saying that, they often pop up online so maybe they were mass market?

I've googled but nothing comes up but cached photos of them for sale.

Not seen one of those before. Was that a promotional thing for Anais Anais? I can literally smell that perfume now.
That's what I'm wanting to find out. Were they mass marketed or so many made for a competition.

I can't remember the fragrance as I don't like perfume but my mum bought it for my cousin's 21st and we saw her pull.her face when she opened it 😆.

date and plant where produced can be gained from serial

there is a guide here to reading them, together with a catalogue collection

https://www.kurtkaminer.com/bikecollection.html

the peak of popularity for these soft-edged multi-coloured liveries was about 1984

some of the cycle's fittings should exhibit date markings

readers could likely give you more/better information regarding the machine if you could post one or more pictures showing the full bicycle from its drive side

That SIS mech puts it splat into the late 80s early 90s

The missus remembers the perfume
The lady I bought it off said her auntie won it in the early 90s. She didn't ride it, gave it to her niece who changed the saddle and didn't ride it. The brake blocks are pristine.
